Increasingly colleges and universities are filling faculty positions with poorly paid part time faculty. While the part time faculty have the education and qualifications to teach at the collegiate level, the positions are paid a fraction of what full time faculty are paid. This often requires part time faculty to teach in excess of a full time schedule, at multiple schools, for a fraction of the pay of their full time counterparts.
Therefore, we petition the white house to:
Hold hearings with professional organizations from various disciplines to establish best practices for utilizing part time faculty, and encourage states to enforce these practices.
Set a cap on the availability of federal student aid for schools, who have more than 30% of their course taught by adjunct professors.
