Reduce DOD spending by letting military families stay at current duty locations

Created by P.D. on March 01, 2013

I am currently a Soldier in the Army. Currently the DOD spends millions of dollars annually moving military families from base to base. There are a lot of military that enjoy this but there are also thousands of soldiers that would rather stay where they are at either due to military reasons or personal reasons. My request to stay at my current duty station got disapproved even though my wife needs to stay where we are to take care of her older parents. So now I am looking at a divorce. It would make sense for the DOD to save money during these fiscal budget constraints by decreasing moving expenses by decreasing the amount of soldiers they need to move. With everything being looked at for the budget, this action could start saving the Government and tax payers dollars starting now.
