There are numerous studies that lead us to the conclusion that we spend a huge part of our health care spending on the last year and in fact few months of our lives. This un-proportional spending could be curtailed if people had a living will expressing their desire or in fact lack of desire to trying to keep them alive for a few extra weeks or months. We should require everyone who is taking social security payments to have a living will on record so we can curtail spending on procedures that extend life unnecessarily. This could be accomplished by a simple web based radio button form, a submission of your own created living will or in the case where people do not submit a default that ends the spending.
