Progressive Social Security reform reinforces the mandate of the government safety net while addressing issues related to maintaining solvency. Eliminating benefits for those who have substantial retirement savings would do just that. This narrowing of the eligibility definition would look similar to the current limits placed on SSI and SSDI beneficiaries and would allow future eligibility if a person's financial situation changes over time. Re-affirm America's safety net for all by focusing the benefit to those who would be homeless, without food, or without health care should this protection be damaged by special interests, watered down by heartless 'budget hawks', or removed.
