Entitlement programs such as Welfare, Food Stamps, and Unemployment Insurance never cease to stop growing. Federal Welfare spending has increased by 32% over the last four years, as of August 2012 the number of people receiving Food Stamps is up to an all time high of 47.1 million, and since 2009 it is possible to receive Unemployment Insurance for up to 99 weeks.
Excessive amounts of money being allocated to those programs takes money from tax payers and gives it to people who don't pay taxes, and only 54% of Americans pay income taxes (2011).
The federal government is inefficient. We ask that the budgets for these programs be reduced significantly and that they are regulated more thoroughly, OR cut completely and be given back to the states.
