Reduce the harsh penalties for skateboarding in public, and improve the overall view of skateboarding as a whole.

Created by M.G. on March 27, 2013

This petition is to help improve the publics view of skateboarding and really try to push the "skateboarding is not a crime" slogan. Skateboarding is an incredibly frowned upon activity to participate in among many local governments and police departments, and almost all skateboarders will agree that the punishments are far too harsh. When I was about 16 years old, I was written a citation for "skateboarding on a sidewalk" and when I approached the judge, he looked at my ticket, gave me a chuckle, and then proceeded to give me a 225$ ticket and 30 hours of community service, and I was not the only skateboarder in the courtroom on that day. We need to reduce the punishment that is given to skateboarders across the nation and help promote this wonderful artform and sport, not discourage it.
