The influence of lobbyists in Washington has to end. The government should consist of the people and their representatives. In this age of economic uncertainty, we need the government focusing on the well being of the people, not on corporations. The recent headline in the Boston Sunday Globe (March 17, 2013) "Tax lobbyists help businesses reap windfalls" is a clear example of this problem. In this article it states: "Whirlpool secured the renewal of lucrative energy tax credits for making high efficiency appliances that it estimates will be worth a combined $120 million for 2012 and 2013. Such breaks have helped the company keep its total tax expenses below zero in recent years." I am sure that many other companies receive similar benefits.
