Reduce the legal drinking age in the United States to 18.
This petition is primarily about fairness in the laws regulating what an adult can and cannot do. A person should not be able to vote, be tried as an adult, judge others on a jury, buy tobacco (which kills more people in the end), buy a house, be responsible for children, own firearms, be given the license to legally kill people and possibly die for their country, and not be able to buy a beer.
Reducing the age would have additional benefits such as increased tax revenue, giving underage drinkers a place to drink where it safer, legal and regulated, as well as make drinking no longer taboo for 18-20 year olds.
The increase in drunk driving seen in 18-20 year olds would be offset by a reduction in 21-24 year olds.
