Reduce the legal drinking age from 21 to 18

Created by J.S. on July 17, 2014

The United States has had a drinking age of 21 for the past 30 years. It was initially pushed through by M.A.D.D. to prevent drunk driving accidents. However, the places and ways that people under 21 consume alcohol make the roads even more dangerous due to the tendency to binge drink rather than drink responsibly. By reducing the legal drinking age to 18, people can legally drink in bars and at restaurants, learning responsible drinking habits in environments with older people present. At the present time, the minimum drinking age only encourages dangerous behavior for countless young adults nationwide.
