Scientists and researchers are finding it much harder in recent years to secure grants and funds for their research. If the trend continues, scientists will look to other nations to fund their projects and leave the US. Cutting-edge scientific research makes for a higher quality of life, a more educated public, job opportunities and greater economic power.
I propose that we incrementally cut military spending over the next ten years and proportionally raise funding for scientific research, government and private alike. We stand to gain much more through scientific advancement than we do through a massive military budget.
