Reduce the military service commitment time from a mandatory 4 year contract to having a 1 year contract option.

Created by J.D. on November 13, 2012

Military members must sign up for 4 year contracts at a time. However, during this long period of time circumstances and hardships can arise that cannot be foreseen. In an effort to allow military members more control over their lives, a proposal of making an option to have contracts only 1 year long if desired by the member, like in the Revolutionary War, is recommended. This will allow military members to decide on getting priorities in life better balanced to meet their own goals and needs without needlessly being trapped in a system that no longer is good for them or the military. With year long committments, the needs of the military and the needs of the individual can be better balanced and effectiveness can better be insured.
