The United States spent approximately $931 billion (that's $931,000,000,000!) on defence in 2012 alone. Our deficit is still a major problem that needs to be fixed, and it's better if it's fixed sooner than later. If our defence budget for one year goes to help fight the deficit, it would be reduced by almost 1/16th. That number may seem small, but that's because our deficit (as of 2/23/13) is $16,615,550,767,282.41! That's $16.6 TRILLION dollars!
If the US government continues to spend money it doesn't have, our country's economy is doomed.
