While we recognise that possession of nuclear weapons are an essential part of American defense, we believe that current numbers of such weapons are unnecessary and their continued maintenance is a burden on the defense budget. Such a huge number of nuclear weapons is neither sensible nor economical.
Approximately 5,000 nuclear weapons remain active in the United States, which is grossly unnecessary. There are few potential nations that present a danger to America which would not be overwhelmed by only a few of these weapons. If the US stockpile were hypothetically reduced to just 100 weapons, America's nuclear capabilities would not be heavily diminished as the destruction of any nation's 100 largest cities would be more than enough to eliminate the target country as a viable threat.
