Reduce the number of signatures required for a We the People petition to receive a response from the administration

Created by J.W. on January 16, 2013

We the People petitions originally were eligible for a public response from the White House after receiving 5,000 signatures. The requirement was subsequently increased to 25,000. Most recently, it has been changed to 100,000. Virtually no petitions have ever received that many signatures. The number should be reduced to something more reasonable, even if it remains over 25,000. The White House doesn't have to respond to a petition just because it gets the required number. The number of signatures required should be less than 60,000.
