Reduce or eliminate the market distorting subsidies for industrial corn, high fructose corn syrup, and corn-fed meats.

Government subsidization of corn production, more than a billion dollars a year, artificially expands the supply and depresses the price for high fructose corn syrup and other unhealthy junk food products that contribute to diabetes, heart disease, and other health problems that add an estimated $150 billion a year to the overall cost of U.S. health care. Eliminating these subsidies and shifting some to a more diverse array of vegetables would save taxpayers trillions of dollars, give small farmers a fighting chance, and allow American farmland to produce more nutrition for Americans.
