Reduce Pay and Benefits for Elected Officials in the Federal Government

Created by W.H. on March 05, 2014

Before we cut pay, increase co-pays, or change the existing retirement benefits to our military men and women we should first and foremost review and perform serious cuts to the pay, and benefits provided to the elected officials in our federal government. These elected officials should receive compensation, however their current benefits are not in line with the people they serve and certainly not in line with our military men and women. The review and subsequent cuts should also address the benefits provided to former elected officials with reasonable and standard compensations/benefits being provided. i.e. former presidents should receive the same amount for their staffs, etc. Is this benefit even necessary? They all make a fortune in private life.
