Reduce pay for members of Congress

Created by B.B. on September 24, 2013

It has gone on for far too long that Congress has gotten away with their outrageous pay increases over the years. The current average salary of a Congress member is $174,000.00.
I feel that this number is absurd for a Government employee to be earning, whereas an average GS-9 Step 1 is only earning $51,630 in the DC area before taxes.
The military also is not the root cause in budget problems when an E-6 of 12 years earns a paycheck of $66,063.60 before taxes in the DC area.
Every day we the people wonder "What do they do to earn this paycheck?", "Why do they get paid for life after serving only 1 term?"
Please do not punish the military for the gratuitous amounts of funding that is paid to Congress. If the Government needs a shutdown, stop sending paychecks to the House and Senate.
