The current federal minimum wage in the USA is $7.25/hour. Because of this low rate, many families struggle to make ends meet in an economy where the prices for everything continually increase. Many attempts have been made in recent years to raise it and give families an easier time, but these measures are always shot down in Congress.
Congress claims that raising the minimum wage will hurt our economy and that those on minimum wage are fine. Then Congress also claims that Congresspeople are not paid enough, despite each person making over $100,000 a year. We the people find it offensive that people who make so much claim to have so little.
This petition is to reduce the salaries of all Congresspeople to minimum wage. If minimum wage is enough for us, it is enough for Congress.
