Currently, members of both houses of the Congress of the United States receive pay and benefits that are well that of the average US citizen. In addition to benefits that include a budget for artwork and décor for their offices, members of Congress also receive pay raises in times of financial distress. While fair and equitable is necessary, it should be based upon the financial stability of the United States. Therefore, this petition requests that the Obama Administration begin an earnest review of Congressional pay and benefits with the goal of reducing their salary and benefits and begin implementation of said reductions within the next calendar year.
