Reduce the salary of elected government officials and limit congressmen and senators to terms similar to the presidency.

All of these government officials scramble to find a reasonable budget but one solution to the problem is never mentioned. And that is to reduce the salaries of elected government officials. Another solution is to limit these officials to terms much like the presidency. There is no reason why a elected representative should turn that job into a career. Old ideas stay old because the officials that think being a representative is a full time job corrupt the new incoming officials to keep the status quo.
