Reduce the Salary of the House of Representative Members

Created by D.F. on December 04, 2012

Eric Cantor has just posted the working schedule for the upcoming congress. It amounts to about two days a week. Since their salaries and health benefits are subsidized by the American taxpayer I propose the following:

1. A 60% pay reduction (since they only work 2 days a week)

2. No health care benefits (since part-time employees generally do not get health benefits).

3. Reduce the size of their staff and other support (since they aren't there long enough to need a staff).

These measures would save the American taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars every year. If you are only working part-time (and I use the word working in a sarcastic way) you should be paid accordingly. As taxpayers, we are NOT getting our money's worth.
