Here's an idea:
Instead of bailing out businesses, government, and organizations that have made poor/greedy decisions, help those that made the responsible choice to further their education.
A majority of student loan borrowers are younger Americans, and we should reward them for developing skills that benefit society by forgiving some of their student loans. They would have more disposable income.
This disposable income would benefit society overall, & it would give younger people more flexibility to save for their future (which may or may not include a safety net such as social security) & improve their current quality of life.
Example: Forgive 20% of someone's debt for graduating from their first program/trade, and an additional 5% for graduating in the top 10% of their class.
