Currently when students borrow money from the government they are charged with 6.8% interest rate on that student loan. The 2014 graduating college students have an average of $33,000 in student loan debt. At 6.8% over the ten years it takes to repay the loans these students will be paying over $12,000 in interest alone. The government needs to reduce this considering interest rates on houses are around 4%. How can this generation ever get a head with this kind of debt. By reducing the interest rate, it will allow them more money to save to begin their lives and to purchase homes. Let's together inspire hope that this generation will not be known as Generation Debt.
