The SS payroll deduction is taxable income. Reagan's law for taxing up to 85% of our SS income - an unfair double tax. One tax must go!
When employers contribute to SS, they deduct these funds as expenses.. If they could not, they would pay more income tax. Employees should be treated the same way.
Replace the taxable deduction with a tax-free contribution (like an IRA). The net amount in paychecks would increase, more funds to buy goods and services and improve the economy. All salary levels benefit from tax relief so increase or eliminate the base limit. Contributions (not taxes) to SS would remove it from opposition. Unemployed 62 or more, have almost no chance of finding a job. Put them in SS: unemployment down, income up. Reduced tax revenue; eliminate tax giveaways and loop holes.
