Reduce the time Americans spend completing individual IRS income tax forms 25% by 2015.

Each and every year, Americans file over 140 million tax returns. The Internal Revenue Service estimates that each individual income tax return takes 18 hours to complete, at an average cost of $230 per return. These statistics do not include corporate returns or paperwork filed by trusts, charities, and other entities. The time and money spent filing this annual paperwork represents an incredible drain on national productivity, and could be dramatically reduced. If the Obama Administration worked with Congress and the Internal Revenue Service to shrink that burden 25% by 2015, this could represent a savings of 632 million hours annually, or $12.6 billion in productivity (assuming a modest $20/hour). In today's modern age, this goal is not only doable but worthwhile for our nation.
