Reduce the Time for Voters to Register to Under an Hour for any Federal Election

Created by N.D. on March 24, 2016

It is an undue burden to expect voters to wait for multiple hours in order to vote. It permits only those who have many hours to spare to participate in democracy.

In president Obama's 2012 acceptance speech, speaking about the hours many people had to wait, he stated "We have to fix that." And yet, four years later it seems that nothing has been done.

We petition president Obama to mandate that every voter be guaranteed a wait time of less than one hour to cast his/her ballot for every federal election. There should be measures in place so that the wait time can be reduced in case of excessive turnout. Should a voter be forced to wait longer than an hour, that voter should be compensated for his/her time.
