reduce the travel time and vehicle emissions by 30% on any road receiving federal funding.

Created by A.S. on December 05, 2012

Travel time on US roads continue to increase while traffic signal technology remains mired in the past.
New ideas and technologies can save the US taxpayers money, increase the happiness of citizens by reducing travel times, and decrease vehicle emissions that will lead to a healthier population.
In addition to the benefits listed above, this petition would help car companies reach current standards that require each company's average fuel economy to be 29.7 MPG now and 35.5 in 2016, and save companies money.
An example of this technology may be seen here: http://www.cmu.edu/homepage/computing/2012/fall/smart-traffic-signals.shtml
While federally funded roads are not all roads, these technologies, once proven on larger scales could be adopted by states and applied on an even wider scale.
