Reducing mandatory minimums for first time violent offenders.

Reducing the mandatory minimum for first time violent offenders will help save money and allow offenders that recieved long sentences to have a second chance at living a productive life. Some offenders recieved these sentences as teenagers and young adults and have spent many years in prison already. Correctional facilities are supposed to be rehabititation centers. They take the classes, and do the right things but some will never be able to apply their knowledge and be the strong changed individuals they are due to long sentences recieved. This will allow parole boards to assess each one individually, assure their ability of being introduced back in to society safely, and allow money to be saved tremendously by not housing these individuals that are capable of living a productive life.
