As we face intensified levels of bigotry, xenophobia, intolerance of diversity, and other expressions of nativism and nationalism, it's time for Congress to publicly declare the reality of interdependence—and the importance of mutual respect, tolerance, and goodwill toward, and between, all individuals.
"Rooted in freedom, children each of the same origin, sharing everywhere a common human blood, we declare again that all human beings are kin, and that mutual tolerance and respect is the price of liberty."
