The proposed ban of assault weapons is missing a major point. Assault weapons are rarely if ever used in criminal activities, when they are used people give them a bad name while ignoring the real problem, handguns. If the same measures were taken against handguns as is being proposed now for assault weapons the violent crime rate would drop quickly. I'm not saying there shouldn't be very strict laws for these weapons, mearly that an all out ban feels like a great infringement upon Americas constitutionals rights.
