Molten Salt Reactors have the potential to replace our use of fossil fuel-based energy, with safe nuclear energy. Molten Salt Reactors are able to use up to 99% of the available energy in the fuel cycle vs. the 1% in solid fueled nuclear reactors. Meltdowns would be a thing of the past, with this style of reactor the fuel will not need to be cooled with a liquid, if power loss occurs. It would simply drain to a tank that has a neutron absorber in it and the reaction would completely stop. Molten Salt Reactors have the ability to burn nuclear waste from our stockpiles. It also can produce valuable medical isotopes as a byproduct.
