refer to the American Civil Liberties Union regarding the legality of targeting American citizens with drone assaults.

Created by E.B. on February 07, 2013

I'm troubled that 62% of Americans support the Obama administration's use of targeted drone strikes in counter-terrorism operations. The civilian deaths that have resulted from these strikes are being used as a recruitment tool for al Qaida. The practice of assuming all males within a strike zone are enemy combatants is unethical.

Efforts to expand the President's power regarding drone strikes against American citizens is especially troubling. Just as G.W. Bush had done with wire-tapping American citizens, now President Obama uses a weak legal memo as justification for injustice. I would like the President to consider the next President and what he or she might do with those expanded powers. I never thought I would see the American Civil Liberties Union and my President at odds.
