Refocus the President's role on promoting American interests abroad rather than guiding the social and economic agenda

The role of the Executive is promoting American interests abroad, dealing with foreign Heads of State, and ensuring domestic security. Voters have come to expect a President to implement their own social and economic interests into the Federal government, even though the Constitution deliberately makes accomplishing this difficult. The result is a worrisome excess of Executive Orders, bureaucracy, and forcing 50 states to conform to a single set of solutions to nuanced issues. The Obama Administration should use this second term to change the expectations of the President. The administration encourage removing current barriers limiting state level diversity and creativity in legislative solutions to domestic problems. Furthermore, legislation that violates this principle should be vetoed.
