Employ 350,000 US citizens, including military veterans, for 10y reforesting public and private lands, to achieve 0 net carbon dioxide emissions for the US. The project will be paid for by excise taxes on energy consumption and property/casualty insurance premiums on the order of 4% for 10y. A positive economic impact of $41B/y to $49.B/y for y 1-10 is projected, increasing to $88B/y for y 11 to 60, and to $1.35T/y for y 61 through 70. Other numerous strategic benefits to the US will be realized, including but not limited to, preservation of our climate and water, improvement of public lands, reduction in energy use and reduction in losses due to catastrophic weather. The project will promote the US as a global leader, challenging other countries to implement similar projects.
