Adjunct instructors in colleges and universities across America are not paid fairly. Calculations of hours worked exclude preparation outside of class and essential out of class work. Adjunct labor should be recalculated to include preparation and grading-they deserve health care based on honest calculation. Adjunct's hours of preparation and grading should be represented in their pay. Adjuncts should be able to expect incremental pay raises after years of service. Adjuncts should be given adequate office space where they can prepare curricula and meet with students, and be paid for these essential meetings. Universities should not be allowed to break contracts because of low enrollment-year long contracts can be fulfilled in other ways which serve the school if classes are cancelled.
