It's no secret that the American educational system has fallen behind its First World's peers in terms of both rigor and production.
Although I'm only a sophomore, I can see where the system has failed. Each year, students are doing worse and worse, and learning less and less.
Therefore, I suggest that the Obama Administration enact new federal policies on education that ensure that students actually learn the material, by creating stricter federal standards higher than the ones outlined in the No Child Left Behind Act, and require that students achieve certain scores before graduation.
In addition, the administration should require that evolution and climate change be taught as core portions of the curriculum, to ensure that the future citizens of the US be well-informed in science.
