The current educational model was developed when America was primarily an agrarian economy and children needed to help with work on family farms. This is longer the case for a vast majority of America's school children. This petition calls for a new model based on the typical adult job. It would treat K-12 school as if it were a "job". Hours would pattern a typical adult work week, meaning 8 - 4 or 9 - 5. Because there would be more hours in school under this model, there would be sufficient time for all work to be done so this under this proposed model, there would be no homework. After all, most working adults do not have "homework" at their jobs. Finally, this model would call for anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks of vacation, as well as all the current holiday vacations.
