Reform The Broken Child Support System

Created by S.R. on November 13, 2012

It needs to be a Federal mandate to take the incomes of BOTH parents into account when calculating child support. Child support is, in a lot of cases, set too high and would practically bankrupt the Non-Custodial Parents while absolving the Custodial Parents of any accountability.

Jail time for a Non-Custodial Parent is not only counterproductive, but it can be devastating to their families as it can not only keep them from looking for work, but they can lose their jobs in the event that they are incarcerated. Also, child support is a CIVIL matter...not CRIMINAL. So, jail time should not even be a part of the equation.

If, however, jail time is to be issued to the parent not paying child support...then jail should also be given to the parent interfering with visitation. Fair is Fair!
