The Constitution guarantees the right of due process. In the name of child protection, parents and children are denied the right of due process. Children are removed from their parents based on rumor, accusations, or innuendo. The parents are then guilty without redress and must meet arbitrary criteria for a "safe" home that depend on the whim of the caseworker. Require a court order to remove a child.
Further, there is a monetary incentive to keep children "in the system" and in foster homes. Department budgets are based on caseload, foster families receive funds, and other providers in the process are in the money trail that is more beneficial when children are kept from their parents.
Discrimination is common against families with disabled members and families of limited means.
