Unemployed fathers are being refused child support modifications to their weekly support obligations by family court magistrates in many states.
Even when child support has been pay and an effort to find work by these fathers is known to the courts, judges are sending good fathers to jail.
No one has addressed this at the state or federal level during this economic down turn where many can still not find a job.
Sending a father to jail that wants to pay support but simply can not find work makes no sense.
Their incarceration is a burden to the families and to the state and federal taxpayers
A father to work program could be initiated.
Let's stop jailing good, well intentioned fathers and find them a job.
The United States currently has over 50,000 men in prison for this today!
