According to the constitution the only requirements needed to become a member of congress according to Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution is the following:
at least 25 years of age.
a citizen of the United States for at least seven years prior to election.
a resident of the state he or she is chosen to represent.
The criteria for representing and leading our country into the future should be evaluated. Instituting requirements such as college education and creating a required competency exam for those people who shape this country is a reasonable request. If we require someone who works on our cars to have a college education and pass a competency test to prove their expertise, why would we not have the same stipulation for those in such important positions in running our country?
