reform the current organ donation system and change it from an opt-in to an opt-out system.

As of this petition, 112,700 people are waiting for an organ, and 18 a day will die waiting. The shortage will only get worse with time. Our current system requires indication on a driver's license that the bearer is an organ donor.
An opt-out system, however, would allow those with moral or religious qualms to remove themselves from the list while broadening the quantity of organs available.
This is an easy solution to a pressing problem. It may not be the most important problem facing our country, but it is something small, easy and wide-reaching.
