Paying child support can be too expensive. Supporting your child is of course an obligation everyone needs to do, but reform is needed in the way payments are calculated. Housing costs and living costs (car/insurance/food/utility bills) should be considered for the payee from every state. A clause should be implemented to allow for varying work schedules (ex: one week you work 40 hrs, the next you only work 20 but STILL pay the full payment that now you can't afford at no fault of your own). Courts should order the custodial parent to work appropriate to their skills, especially when they purposely work for less to gain more support money. Also, the money for the child should stay with the child! The custodial parent should not be allowed to use support money on personal purchases.
