With horrendous access to quality education (from kindergarten to college), the idea of fulfilling the American Dream is sadly not a reality for an unbelievable number of citizens in the U.S.
Public schooling is inconsistent and doesn't prepare students adequately. College tuition is skyrocketing and not slowing down. Teachers aren't getting fair pay. The methods we use to educate simply are not sustainable; too many fixable factors are limiting what should be equal access to affordable, high quality, and applicable education.
We need to stop treating education like a commodity. We need access to education that meets the needs of the ALL the people, regardless of location, income, race, class, gender--because equal and affordable access to education only moves us FORWARD.
