Reform the electoral college to promote fairness and equality while still keeping its checks and balances in place

Created by J.M. on November 13, 2012

Three problems arise from our current electoral college system.

1. States in which a certain political party dominates the electoral vote (ie. Democrats with New York and California, Republicans with Texas) discourage voters from the minority voting party from even coming out to vote. This leads to a downward spiral of inequality.

2. States shown in examples above are avoided in presidential campaigning and advertising and all efforts are focused unfairly on swing states.

3. The electoral college was first put in place to safeguard against the tyranny of the miss-informed masses. Now, the masses control the system indirectly through political party control and faithful electors.

We petition the US government to actively seek a solution to these issues with integrity and bipartisanship
