Reform the Electoral Voting system for states with 12 or more electoral votes

We understand that the electoral system was designed to help the small states influence the election, but this creates a problem for the bigger states. We believe that states 12 or more electoral votes should be represented by district, which allows each one to vote for their own party, rather than a big state influence. It is only fair that if a district elects a representative, they can vote the way their district wants them to. This would allow the democratic parts of Texas and the Republican parts of California to have effect too. Small states will proceed as normal, but this lets the weaker parties in each large state to use the representatives that they have to sway the election. Increasing the influence of peoples votes should be a top priority in the United States govornment
