Did you know if you are between the ages of 18-24 and have at least one living parent, you are not eligible for government grants or American Opportunity Tax Credit based on your own income and expenses?
While it is true that MOST college students within this age range have the financial support from their parents, there are many who do not. College students, this could be your classmates, your friends, who are struggling to remain in college and sustain their own life without assistance from their families or from the government. These people are likely to become drop outs, remain in poverty, and end up on welfare benefits.
Please reconsider these laws which do not allow independent 18-24 year-old's the chance to obtain a higher education and stimulate our economy.
