Modern electronic technologies, available to a large number of voting-age individuals, allow for secure transactions by specific individuals. Use of these technologies would allow for identification of specific individuals (via retinal scan or fingerprint), addressing the proliferation of State laws regarding voter identification. Additionally, use of these secure technologies would allow for a more timely determination of voting outcomes and, hopefully, reduce challenges to these outcomes by those who mistrust the older, less advanced methods for casting a vote (i.e. paper ballots). Election laws should be revised to include use of these technologies and efforts to develop specific systems for casting votes using these systems should be supported.
