Reform federal election law to limit active campaigning for any federal election to six weeks before the election only.

Extended election campaigns consume precious resources with little benefit to the People. Politicians' time would be better spent working to address current issues, being present for debates, and visiting their constituents if we limited the time allowed for campaigning in federal elections to six weeks before the election only. Candidates would then be encouraged to present concise, factual arguments as to why they or their cause deserve the People's vote, rather than spending precious time and resources on superfluous matters. The People would benefit from a more thoughtful and productive campaign process, as well as incumbent candidates focusing on their sworn duty for a longer period of time. If passed, this reform would ideally take effect from the 2016 general election forward.
