In recent months, enemies of the United States have made direct threats towards the men and women of the U.S. armed forces. These service members should have piece of mind in knowing that they are safe among the ranks of the best trained warriors the world has ever seen. However, current policies actively seek to disarm these men and women by making it illegal to carry a firearm on a Military Installation. These Service Members endure countless hours of weapons training in order to protect this nation, but are left defenseless at home. I propose that the Federal Government amend it's policies and allow service members to carry privately owned weapons, in accordance with federal and local laws, to prevent future attacks such as the 2009 Fort Hood & 2014 Naval Yard shootings.
